Podcast - French transcripts & English translations

I am happy to announce that the transcripts and English translations of my Easy French Poetry Podcast are now available. I believe the transcripts combined with the free audio of the podcasts make a fantastic tool to improve your French. On this page, I will give you tips on how to use the transcripts.

The transcripts are on sale for $14.99 each on my store (all 10 for $99.95). Click on the links below to purchase :

All 10 Transcripts Bundle ($99):

Individual Transcripts ($14.95 each):

When you buy the transcripts, you receive:

  • a PDF of the transcript of the French audio (covering one or two podcasts depending if the poem was anlyzed on one or two podcasts) and the whole translation in English.
  • easy access to download the mp3 files of all the poems' podcasts.

How to use the transcripts and translations

  • for beginners, start by reading the transcript, and use the translation if necessary. Study the words and the expressions you are not familiar with. Then, listen to the audio, small section after small section, without reading the transcript, and see how much you understood.
When this is done, read the transcript again, and look at what you didn’t understand, and analyze why you didn’t get it; are the words still too new for you? Is it a problem of pronunciation?
Finally, listen to the audio while reading the transcript, then train on reading the text out loud, mimicking my voice. Pay attention to the liaisons, to the places where I pause, to the intonation.

  • For intermediate and advanced students, listen to the audio without reading the transcript. Repeat the whole listening a couple of times, you’ll see, you’ll understand better with each repetition. Try to repeat out loud the words you are not getting, and write down phonetically what you hear, even if it makes no sense. Then check with the transcript, and the translation if necessary; why didn’t you understand? Is it a problem of vocabulary or pronunciation?
Finally, with the help of the audio, read the transcript out loud, mimicking my voice as if you were an actor, trying as much as possible to keep the same rhythm and the same intonations.

  • The more advanced students among you can have fun by translating the transcript, and comparing their translation with mine.
